BBC Academy and Arts Council England are joining forces to offer training and guidance to the arts sector across England on how to maximize the creation and distribution of high quality arts content for audiences on digital platforms, including online, mobile and internet protocol television.
The building digital capacity for the arts programme, announced in September 2010, will support the development of the arts sector’s media production skills by bringing together the BBC Academy ‘s media and digital experience with the Arts Council’s knowledge of the arts sector.
The initial programme which was launched on March 10th will run until August 2012 and will consist of practical seminars, an online guide to commissioning, facilitated master classes and an online resource of filmed and streamed content.

Great Yarmouth Potteries are delivering the following courses between 21st March – 15th April 2011:
Watercolours with Jim: how to paint landscapes and local scenes.
Greeting card making with Terri: cutting 3D cards.
Oil painting with Ernie: from beginners to more advanced.

NCC Children’s Services are pleased to offer the following training for artists-
Working with Looked After Children, Friday 18 March 2011, 9.30am -12.30pm, Cranworth Room, County Hall, Norwich
This training session is designed for artists who are experienced in working with children and young people,and who would like to extend their knowledge and understanding to support them to work with children who are Looked After.
The session will consider:
How learning and other outcomes are affected by being Looked After
How early attachment influences later learning and development
The role of artists in supporting Looked After Children and the impact of positive experiences

Adult Education will be running a life and portraiture study course at the Central Library in Great Yarmouth starting from Wednesday 29th September 2010, 6.30-8.00 p.m. The course will run for 15 weeks for which the full fee is £139, concession £65 if in receipt of means tested benefits.

Are you aged 16-25, unemployed, not in education or training and interested in gaining skills in metalwork and welding? The Prince’s Trust, working with support from Seachange Arts, Enterprise GY and the Working Neighborhoods Fund is staging a ‘Get Started with Metal Sculpture’ course in Great Yarmouth starting on 2nd August and running until Tuesday 10th August.
The free seven day course will give you an opportunity to have a go and develop your own creative metalwork skills. At the end of the course you will be able to design and create your own fire burner, using skills such as welding, brazing, flame cutting, riveting and forge work.
The course will enable you to gain new employable skills which will help to find work in the engineering and construction industry or to go onto further education or training; with help and support on hand for all participants to be able to achieve this. On completing the course, you will receive a certificate presented by his worship the Mayor of Great Yarmouth, Councilor Micheal Jeal.

Free Training Session
Friday, 4th June 2010, 10.00-13.00 hrs, Lecture Hall at Great Yarmouth Central Library
As part of the Transitions Project, funded by Awards for All, ARC Artists Group are offering free training on how to create a blog, upload images and post to an interactive website like EastCoastNet. Assistance will also be available on how to make the most of the archives at the library for research purposes. One hour training slots will run from 10.00, 11.00 and 12.00 hrs. Based at the Unitarian Church Hall, Yarmouth Way, the Phyllis Adams School of Dance in Great Yarmouth provides students with lessons in a wide assortment of classes in dance and drama. Dance includes ballet, disco, fitness, tap and modern. Classes are available for different types of students and dancing and drama school tuition assistance is also offered.

Dragons Stage and Theatre School will be running its seventh summer workshop at Caister High School Arts College from 27th to 31st July and 10th – 14th August, 9.30 am – 4.00 p.m. The workshop is open to all children aged between eight and sixteen who can attend either or both weeks. Each week costs £65.00. This year’s workshop will focus on theatre with an American twist and the children will create a presentation for the end of the workshop followed by a party.
