Celebrating older people in the Borough

I am on the search for some inspirational older people (over 50 years of age). The criteria for this is that they

· Must be over the age of 50 years
· Must live in the Borough of Great Yarmouth (Hopton all the way through to Martham?)\
· Have inspired you or others in some way either in the past, or currently.
or
· Have had an achievement, either sporting or otherwise, in the past. (for example we have one person who swam the channel for charity some time ago)
or
· An outstanding volunteer, maybe that person who makes the tea or puts the chairs away ………
or
· Overcome some challenges in their past…….in any way shape or form
· Or just simply a wonderful person who deserves some recognition

All I need is
· Their name
· Their dob or age
· Their contact details (I need to be able to contact them with an invitation to a celebration event)\
· Your contact details
· A short piece about why you are nominating them, and why they deserve to be celebrated.
· Nominations must be with me by the 16th of May 2012

The celebration event will be on the 16th of June held at the Masonic lodge.

Conversations from the Edge is a research project undertaken by the sculptor Bridget Heriz which was supported by SeaChange Arts and funded through the Working Neighbourhood Fund. Free Training Session

Friday, 4^th June 2010, 10.00-13.00 hrs, Lecture Hall at Great Yarmouth Central Library

As part of the Transitions Project, funded by Awards for All, ARC Artists Group are offering free training on how to create a blog, upload images and post to an interactive website like EastCoastNet. Assistance will also be available on how to make the most of the archives at the library for research purposes. One hour training slots will run from 10.00, 11.00 and 12.00 hrs. Anybody interested is welcome to drop in but numbers are limited for each training session, so to book a place please email to eastcoastnet@btinternet.com or phone Bridget on 01493 602698.

IT IS THE MOST DEPRESSIVE AREA TO WORK PROFESSIONALY.
I KNOW, I’M NOT IN LONDON, LISBON, PARIS!
ART IS CULTURE, ART IS QUALITY OF LIFE, POSITIVE CONTRIBUTION, CHOICE AND CONTROL, HAPPINESS.
I FEEL MYSELF SAD, SOMETIMES ANGRY, DEPRESSIVE, ISOLATED, DISCRIMINATED.
THERE’S NO FEEDBACK!
ART NEEDS BIG VISIONS, BIG AIMS, HIGH QUALITY DECISIONS FROM LEADERS TO DEVELOP ARTS, PUTTING YARMOUTH ON… MAP.
THERE IS NO ART IN G. YARMOUTH, JUST SOME BRAVE ARTISTS. THE ARTS ORGANIZATIONS WORK IN CIRCLES, NOT FOR PEOPLE, NOT FOR ARTISTS, NOT FOR ART.
PLEASE, PUT PEOPLE FIRST, GIVING TO THE PEOPLE WHAT PEOPLE WANT.
