Great Yarmouth & District Photographic Society gyps@eaf.org.uk
Founded in 1948, we have around 30 members, meeting every Wednesday evening at St Mary Magdalene Church Hall, Magdalene Square, Gorleston, NR31 7BZ from September to April and outside at photo-friendly venues in the summer.
The majority of members use digital photography in one form or another, though we still have members working with traditional black & white and colour negative film. New members are welcomed what ever their interests or level of expertise. An exhibition of members’ work is held annually and smaller exhibitions are held from time to time as opportunities arise.
The annual subscription is £25 for the year running from the start of the winter programme in September through to the following summer. Interested new-comers are welcome to attend four meetings before the subscription is due.

This January, the Norfolk County Council library service is aiming to attract an extra 2,000 members by the end of the month, or 5,000 in total to join the 226,782 people in Norfolk who are ‘active users’ of the library – members who have used their library card in the last 12 months.
During January, anyone over the age of 16 who joins the library will be automatically entered into a prize draw to win a Sony Reader Pocket Edition, donated by AudioGO, which will allow the winner to download and borrow ebooks from the Norfolk County Council’s digital library from their own home PC at no cost. Twelve to 16-year-olds who join the library in January will be entered into a draw to win an MP3 player, donated by Ulversoft, while children under the age of twelve who join will have the chance to win £25 of book tokens.
