This Choral Society performance in St. Nicholas Parish Church

The Chorus of St. Cecilia will be performing Some Enchanted Evening at the Gorleston Pavilion Theatre from the 24th to 26th March. The Chorus will be performing songs from 20 Broadway musicals, conducted by Matthew Hardy, the choir’s musical director. The full choir will be accompanied by soloists Neil Francis, Kirsty Barlow, Natasha Steffieri and Chris Moore. The concert starts at 7.45 p.m. and tickets can be bought from the Pavilion Theatre or the Dance Shop in Gorleston High Street, or by phoning 01502 733625.

Rehearsals have started for the Society’s next concert, Faure’s Requiem and Vivaldi’s Gloria. The Society meets on Monday evenings, 7.30 p.m., at Oriel High School, Gorleston. New members are always welcome – contact Jane Freeman on 01493 843816 or simply turn up on the night.

Choral Ambition is a brand new scheme run by the BBC Performing Arts Fund in association with Making Music to provide funding for choirs across the UK.
The fund is for adult or youth choirs of any genre. The maximum grant is £5,000, the minimum is £500. The grant can be used for commissioning new music, training anddevelopment, masterclasses, workshops and projects to attract new members

The Great Yarmouth Choral Society is presenting its Summer Concert at St. Nicholas Parish Church at 7.30 p.m. on Saturday 20th June. Tickets are available at the door. The programme is Haydn, Little Organ Music; Poulenc, Gloria; selected choruses from Mendelssohn’s Elijah. The soprano soloist is Hannah Long who won Norfolk Musician of the Year in 2003 before successfully auditioning for a place at the Guildhall School of Music.
