Betrayal at the Seagull Theatre, Lowestoft

Posted: May 8th, 2012 | Author: eastcoastnet | Filed under: Uncategorized | Tags: | No Comments »

Open Space theatre company have brought the Seagull consistently first class shows over the years and their latest touring production, Harold Pinter’s Betrayal, arrives on Saturday night, 12th May. 7.45pm   Tickets £9.50/£8  An excellent play from an excellent company, this is well worth a look.
Betrayal touches many people at various times in their lives, whether it involves a wife or a husband, a friend or a work colleague. Harold Pinters most famous play is about an extra-marital affair but its underlying theme is not sex or adultery but the behaviours of those betraying others; the lies, the evasions, the sudden dangers, the panic and the contradictory feelings behind deftly engineered masks. And by moving backwards in time, Pinter’s brilliantly crafted script replaces the question of “What happens next” with the deeper “How” and “Why”.
